As we all are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a drastic loss to human life across all the countries of this universe. The COVID-19 crises quickly escalated and badly disrupted lives, livelihoods, and economies everywhere. The loss at economic front and disruption at social level is beyond repair. At present we do not have any specific drug or vaccine in hand to combat this pandemic completely. How long the human civilization will have to face the wrath of this pandemic, nobody is in position to say.

According to a study over 15 lakh children across 21 countries lost their primary and secondary caregivers in the first 14 months of the pandemic. In case of India, more than 1.19 lakh children in India lost their primary or secondary caregivers due to covid -19 between March 2020 and April 2021.

All this situation also impacted deeply the fund flowing of civil society organizations, hampering their work. Letter issued in September 2020 by Govt. of India regarding change in FCRA norms has multiplied the miseries of such organizations who were having financial supports from overseas also. Due to paucity of funds, SBMA also suffered which resulted loss of its trained and qualified human resource. This has led unemployment among the staff and volunteers engaged in different programs in such organizations.

I urge to our former partners/ groups and individuals to come forward during this crisis and make donation to the SBMA generously.  It will able us to keep the momentum of our different work with communities particularly with children and women. This is the time Wherein we all need to come forward and support each other in this crisis. Its just we humans can help humans. As, it is rightly said that “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”.

With gratitude.

Gyan Singh Rawat
Secretary, SBMA
